We're really enjoying ourselves and finding our way from town to town is going just fine. Finding our way in how we manage things is a learning process. We've discovered that it's not always convenient to find internet access when we want and that Joel's laptop batteries aren't worth much. So we'll have to find a [...]

It's gorgeous! Sunny but not too warm and a very nice breeze. We just got back from swimming at the Y! Later we'll take a little walk. We got a very good night's sleep and had Joel's 'world-famous' pancakes for brunch. Fiona's made new friends - Nels and Phoenix. What a wonderfully relaxing day.
We'll keep you [...]

We actually drove away from the house at 10:41 pm. Our first stop was to the local store to pick up something to drink for Fiona and Frappuccino's for Joel to help him stay awake for the all night drive. It's amazing that we fit so much stuff in the van and nearly every piece of [...]

It's almost 10:30 pm Wednesday night and none of us can wait! The van's packed, Fiona's in a hurry to get to Canada, and we'll be leaving in a few minutes. Tomorrow we'll arrive in Washington and stay 4 days there. Then - [...]
We're off to Hoquiam, Washington, leaving tomorrow morning. (I didn't know where it was either.)
We leave at the crack of dawn tomorrow, drive 12 hours, and stay with Ralph and Kelly and their kids.
We will eat. We will play music. We will have peace.
Funny how things kept bouncing around, not knowing where they were going [...]

Fiona has an older grown sister, Rachelle. Rachelle was at Fiona's birth and is like a second mother to her since there's a 16-year age difference. In fact four years ago when mommy ended up in the hospital for four month, Rachelle really took over as then 2-year old Fiona's surrogate mommy. So they are very [...]

We'll be in Vancouver from August 2, 2010 through...near the end of August. If you'd like to meet Joel, Sue and Fiona, it's our plan to visit the Waves Coffee Houses in Vancouver while we're there in August. We'll keep you posted as to which ones we'll be in and on what days. It looks like [...]

The best of plans sometimes have to change. We just found out this morning that our lodging accommodations in Portland, Oregon next week fell through. Due to an unforeseen family need, the wonderful family that were going to let us stay with them in return for our coaching services are unable to do so.
That leaves us without a place to [...]

We went to a client's house yesterday, who is also a friend, and while Joel and I were working with the client in her office, Fiona got a special project to work on. To keep her occupied she agreed to do some sorting for our client. She needed all the papers from envelopes removed and then [...]

Are we there yet? Are we there yet? In 11 days (love that new countdown over there in the right sidebar) we'll leave for Canada. The first overnight stop will be in Portland, Oregon - a-10 hour drive from here. Does anyone know how many times a six-year old can say 'are we there yet?' in [...]

Vicarious Nomads
You may not be in a position to drop everything and travel the world. (We might not either, but we're talking about you right now.) If you'd like to participate vicariously, your financial support of this adventure will help us to document it, and hopefully show that even today (perhaps especially today) a family can choose where and how to live.
We're not expensive folks. Even the smallest amount will make a very real difference.
