The Weather is Beautiful

It’s gorgeous! Sunny but not too warm and a very nice breeze. We just got back from swimming at the Y! Later we’ll take a little walk. We got a very good night’s sleep and had Joel’s ‘world-famous’ pancakes for brunch. Fiona’s made new friends – Nels and Phoenix. What a wonderfully relaxing day.

We’ll keep you posted on the adventures of the Canfield Family now in Hoquiam Washington with the Hogaboom family.

Updated August 19, 2010 – we finally have pictures!

  • I sure hope the weather holds here. For the past month you couldn’t ask for anything more perfect. Warm during the day, sometimes getting a little on the perfectly perfect hot side in the afternoon, like 24 or 25 or 26 degrees in the sun. Then, down to 14 or 17 degrees at night for ideal sleeping.

We have the “Canada Games Pool” just down the road from us. It was built for high level competitive swimming many years ago. Now, it boasts a fun area for kids, lanes for swimming, hot tub, sauna, exercise area, ping pong tables. Lots of fun – at a good price! There is also a brand new outdoor pool not far away, and a spray park in the park just down the street.

Did we mention the park, which is less than 2 blocks away, has a petting zoo, spray park, bandshell, concession stand, small-medium-and large-child playgrounds, a sunken rose garden, tennis courts, an arena, a large gym, a small theatre, a fitness circuit, a totem pole, an off-leash dog park, walking trails, soccer fields, baseball diamonds, a stadium, a small art gallery, a pre-school, and a hall for social functions? That’ll keep you busy for an afternoon! P.S. most of it is free.

PPS. Lacrosse season may be over, not sure, but if it’s still going & you get a chance to watch a game at the arena, I highly recommend it. A true Canadian sport.

  • Happiness in Hoquiam with the Hogabooms? Heavenly…

  • It was great. Knew Ralph as a songwriter, but to sit for hours in the evening talking child-rearing, business thinking, cooking, world issues, and music with two deep thinkers like Ralph and Kelly was a treat we’re looking forward to repeating. Also nice meeting Kelly’s mom Jenny, who has a marvelous giant Victorian which you’ll see pictures of eventually.

People; it’s what this is all about for Sue and I. The driving is fun, the music is fun, the work is fun, but for us, it’s all about the people.

Just like everything else in our life, I guess.
