That could be a noun, were it hyphenated, but it's a short phrase describing a need.
We have luggage. It's pretty battered. It has served us well, but it's nearing the end of its own personal journey.
What have you personally used for lugging stuff around (that's what you do with luggage, you lug) that you'd never leave [...]

Today Fiona heard Daddy say something about a friend who still doesn't know what he wants to be when he grows up. Fiona then said, "I know what I want to be when I grow up!" So we asked her what she wanted to be. Her reply, "I want to do everything!"
She's been exposed to a [...]

Last week Bill Walker and Meghan Wood of The Bill and Meghan Show interviewed our family about our nomadic plans. Read what they have to say and listen to their podcast at their website.
They've also posted on their home page an interesting poll: Do you support the Canfields in their decision to embrace a more simple [...]

Yes, we are the type of people who decide on a whim to hop into the van and take a drive - for the next 24 hours!
In early May 2007 just after we bought our 2005 Kia Sedona van, we decided to drive up into Oregon - just so I could say I'd been there since [...]

Best Beloved had left a handful of baby things out by the fence with a 'Free' sign. I set the dead empty computer cases out there, too.
Except, not the one which had both a hard drive to bring Computer A back to life and the video card to bring Server B back to life. That [...]

Rear brakes on the van in a few hours, which means taking James to work at 6:45 so we have his car while ours is being done. (We manage okay with one car for Sue and I, but we're not so good with zero cars, at least, not yet. Maybe not ever.)
Spent the weekend in the [...]

Caitlyn James
Caitlyn is back. I am not sure what that means; does she keep coming here because we're coming there? This is something to be looked into, eh? In the meantime, here's Caitlyn . . .
I should have taken a picture of myself last night. It was getting dark and I was covered in muddy [...]

Today was busy getting ready for tomorrow's workshop. It would be the first day since we started the blog that nothing got posted. I couldn't let that happen! So today's post is: too busy [...]

Our friend Bill Walker does a podcast with Meghan Wood. Today we were interviewed for their upcoming show. It was fun and we hope you enjoy it once it's posted at their website. We'll keep [...]

The tilted sign is on Valentia Island in Chapeltown. Ted's bus takes us in to Caherciveen regularly. Before our month in Ireland was up, this sign had been fixed so it no longer titled.
In Waterville, just a few miles south of Caherciveen, is the Charlie Chaplin statue. You'll also find a world-famous Arnold Palmer [...]

Vicarious Nomads
You may not be in a position to drop everything and travel the world. (We might not either, but we're talking about you right now.) If you'd like to participate vicariously, your financial support of this adventure will help us to document it, and hopefully show that even today (perhaps especially today) a family can choose where and how to live.
We're not expensive folks. Even the smallest amount will make a very real difference.
