Caitlyn and Ian are kindred spirits, and though I wrote this for my own Best Beloved, they inspired it. So this is for Caitlyn and Ian. Like This Forever You want your first love to last forever Once your heart's [...] We are not ascetics. We love good food and wine (well, Sue's pancreas has decided she can't have alcohol any more, but she loves the smell) and we prefer nice furniture to garage sale stuff. We like a comfortable life and nice things. Clearly, though, folks who are doing their best to divest themselves of stuff aren't [...] We came across a strange-looking fruit here in British Columbia called the dragon fruit. Our friend Shannon told us it was a mild fruit somewhat like a Kiwi with a hint of coconut. We decided to buy one and try it out. It is quite mild and would be great in a fruit salad. Oh, Joel's [...] We've made new, lifelong friends while in New Westminster. Dan and Heather O'Keefe had us over for dinner earlier in the month. We met their daughter Shannon and her husband Cyprian that night and their two girls. Fiona and the girls got along very well and they are her new best friends. We'll definitely be staying [...] Fiona is such a creative child. She loves to 'read' the newspaper and junk mail is just for her. She likes to take it all apart and spread it around everywhere. So right now she's taking the newspaper and throwing it up in the air and singing, "it's raining newspaper!" Riding [...] Yesterday Brodie the canine left with his family to Van Isle. We miss him. We keep expecting to hear his gentle whine waking us up in the morning or to hear the pitter patter of his little feet on the stairs or hardwood floor. When we got home last night there was no welcome home from [...] . . . and they're off. Again. Two things are immediately apparent: This house is going to be quiet without Brodie the Wonder Dog, and Ian and Caitlyn have arrived for a quick overnighter before Trip #2. Beans on the stove, brown rice and cornbread in the oven, homemade salsa in the fridge. It's gonna be a great dinner, followed almost instantly by waffles (or pancakes, no one's decided for sure) for breakfast. By bedtime tonight we will have tripled the amount of time [...] Today and tomorrow our role as house sitters changes and we'll be house guests instead. The family we're house sitting for will be back this afternoon for an overnight stay and then leaving again tomorrow for another short vacation. We've been busy this morning changing bedding, straightening up, trying to make our 'stuff' as invisible as possible. [...] |
