Official time out: 7:30am PST, only 30 minutes later than planned. Good thing we woke up two hours early. About a 13-hour drive. It almost fit. We're leaving (besides what's already in storage) four small boxes and two folding tables. If we weren't taking an extra bass guitar and a microwave for friends we're staying with in [...] We leave the day after tomorrow - finally! We've been going non-stop for over four weeks preparing for our nomadic life. I'm so glad we're almost there - ready to drive away. We need a nice long drive to unwind and let go of all the stress! Today and tomorrow we finish getting things ready. James and [...] We finished cleaning the house today. There's no more to be done. Tomorrow we do the final walk through. Everything we own is now being stored with our friends or is with us here where we're house sitting. In 4 days we pack the van and drive away. What a relief to be done with all [...] Nothing to see here, folks; move along . . . I may be a navigator, able to steer a course and bring our ship to port. You are the sun which shows me where to go; the stars that tell me why I must; the sails that move me; a place warm and soft and dry, safe [...] We are currently house sitting for friends in Roseville California while they are backpacking in Italy. We're one week in to our two-week house sitting job here and loving it. The home owners gave us permission to take some photos and post them here. As all of you who were worried about Fiona having a bed and [...] We leave one week from tomorrow. And this morning the parking brake broke. Joel went to release the parking brake and it just broke. We use the parking brake as a matter of routine and don't want to travel without it. Imagine parking on a hill with all our possessions in the van without a parking [...] In the space of two weeks we have reduced the contents of our 4,000 square foot rental to what will fit in our van for traveling, and 20 boxes and a filing cabinet to go to storage. That square footage includes a full attic and basement; unusual for California, but we used them. I had a [...] (Today's guest post is by Bob and Bentley, the mini-dachshunds who are caring for us.) two of them are big like our other people but one of them is little like us not quite as little though she throws the ball BALL BALL BALL shut up bob i'm writing she throws the ball for us and bob [...] You've heard that the Canfield family is going to travel and live a nomadic lifestyle. What does that mean? What are we really doing? Let me explain. We are no longer renting a place to live. We're packing our Kia Sedona minivan with our clothing, Joel's musical instruments and equipment, important books and papers, Fiona's books, toys [...] Eric and Heather left for Italy this morning for two weeks. We're house sitting for them while they're gone. They have two mini dachshunds, Bob and Bentley, who need Fiona's special care while Eric and Heather are away. Fiona's very excited to be taking care of the two dogs, making sure they are fed and get played [...] |
