  1. Unfortunately, Joel, your sketchy Great Lakes geography does not give you Canadian demerit points. It should, but almost every Canadian who does not, or has not, lived in western Ontario messes it up.

It’s too bad we weren’t able to hook you up with Ian’s siblings. Sarnia is where Ian grew up. He spent many, many, many hours sailing and swimming in Lake Huron. When we were at his sister’s this summer we did the swimming part … and the boys schemed so that they might get a sailboat into her boathouse instead of a sea-doo! Don’t think it worked – yet.

  2. We’re passing through Sarnia again on or about the 14th, so if there’s anyone who knows great jokes or has a stash of Irish whiskey, give them my number or email address.

Spending most of my life in California really bent my perception of bodies of water. The Pacific is, well, big, so it’s hard to look out at what the map calls a ‘lake’ and see water to the horizon. Eerie. As opposed, of course, to erie.
