You may wonder what it's been like packing up the van and taking our six-year old to Canada and back. There were those of you who were worried about how Fiona would handle it. Would she have friends to play with? Would she have a bed to sleep in? How would she continue doing her school [...]

This morning we left Arlington Washington and drove down to Portland Oregon. We stopped in Olympia, Washington's capital, and at the Farmer's Market bought breakfast - great fresh fruit: peaches, apples, plums. We also bought lunch - cucumbers, grape tomatoes and a great loaf of garlic and rosemary French bread.
Upon arriving in Portland at 3 [...]

Dorothy sent this in an email, and when I asked, was gracious enough to allow us to share it here.
Come on over and join us anytime you like.
If you need to take off we can lend you a bike.
You can walk to the train and go for a ride,
It's in our backyard, and we’re on the [...]

We've made new, lifelong friends while in New Westminster. Dan and Heather O'Keefe had us over for dinner earlier in the month. We met their daughter Shannon and her husband Cyprian that night and their two girls. Fiona and the girls got along very well and they are her new best friends. We'll definitely be staying [...]
. . . and they're off. Again.
Two things are immediately apparent:
This house is going to be quiet without Brodie the Wonder Dog, and
it doesn't take long for the right kind of people to worm their way into your heart on what's likely to be a [...]
Ian and Caitlyn have arrived for a quick overnighter before Trip #2.
Beans on the stove, brown rice and cornbread in the oven, homemade salsa in the fridge.
It's gonna be a great dinner, followed almost instantly by waffles (or pancakes, no one's decided for sure) for breakfast.
By bedtime tonight we will have tripled the amount of time [...]

This morning we'll be visiting with new friends as we walk in the neighborhood taking in scenery and visiting. This afternoon we reconnect with Kathy, an aspiring virtual assistant who attended the Client Communication Clinic last Friday. We'll be meeting her at a Waves Coffee Shop at 2:30 in North Vancouver on Lynn Valley Road. I [...]
We're off to Hoquiam, Washington, leaving tomorrow morning. (I didn't know where it was either.)
We leave at the crack of dawn tomorrow, drive 12 hours, and stay with Ralph and Kelly and their kids.
We will eat. We will play music. We will have peace.
Funny how things kept bouncing around, not knowing where they were going [...]

. . . and so I said "I was thinking about how much less it might cost to live if we didn't have a house or a car . . . "
How many wives would even have that conversation? Mine did.
It's been less than 96 hours, and so much has happened that I don't have time [...]

Vicarious Nomads
You may not be in a position to drop everything and travel the world. (We might not either, but we're talking about you right now.) If you'd like to participate vicariously, your financial support of this adventure will help us to document it, and hopefully show that even today (perhaps especially today) a family can choose where and how to live.
We're not expensive folks. Even the smallest amount will make a very real difference.
